Clouds of uncertainty hover around the Diploma of National Board (DNB) course being run in four disciplines at the Government Multi Specialty Hospital,Sector 16 following the hike in revalidation fee for running the course at the hospital.
The hospital, which is one of the few civil hospitals running the post graduate diploma course equivalent to MD/MS course for the past few years,is now in a fix over the hike in revalidation fee for the course by the National Board of Examination under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
While the hospital authorities have already applied for the revalidation of the DNB course in paediatrics and orthopaedics following the revision of the revalidation fee,and has also got confirmation for the same from the National Board of Examination,it is yet to do the same for the gynaecology and medicine.
According to sources, earlier the revalidation fee for the course in paediatrics was Rs 3,000 which has now been revised to Rs 77,000.
Sources confirmed that hospital authorities have already deposited the said amount to avoid risking the course.
Both the disciplines have two seats each. Sources say that already names of four doctors have also been received by the hospital. However, these doctors are yet to confirm the date of their joining.
Similarly, for the Diploma of National Board course, the revalidation fee was approximately Rs 7,000 in the department of gynaecology which has now been revised to Rs 2 lakh.
Sources in the hospital say that while the hospital has already communicated with the National Board of Examination with regards submission of the revised fee,it is yet to get a confirmation from the board.
The Diploma of National Board courses are being run in the department of paediatrics, medicine, gynaecology, and orthopaedics.
Another, concern which has been raised of late as far as running the Diploma of National Board course is the acute shortage of doctors in the hospital.
Insiders say that due to the ongoing situation of paucity of doctors in the hospital,it would be difficult to ensure smooth teaching.
