Local president of the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD),Ravinder Krishan,was once again elected for the post in Chandigarh on Sunday. Thanking Member of Parliament,Bihar,Prem Chand Gupta and various other senior leaders of RJD present during the felicitation ceremony in Sector 15,Krishan said,I thank the entire RJD family,including our supporters,to have shown faith in me and choosing me as their president once again. With their support,I am going to take the party forward to number one position in the city in the coming three years. Citing various details about the city,including population,per capita income,tax payee status of residents and so on,Krishan said,Despite Chandigarh being the capital of Punjab and Haryana,bureaucracy dominates the city,because there is no strong opposition from any political party. So far in Chandigarh,no party has actually emerged as a strong Opposition to the ruling Congress government. The RJD will raise its voice against the prevailing corrupt practices in the Municipal Corporation and Market Committee. Krishan also assured the audience that he will raise the pending issues of the Rent Act,Scheduled Caste certificate,slums and so on with the authorities concerned in the coming days. Two BSP councillors join BJP Two Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) councillors Raj Kumari Mishra and Sarita Sharma joined the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) here on Sunday. Extending their support and showing loyalty towards the former BSP leader Harmohan Dhawan,who joined BJP last week,the two councillors today joined the party at a function held at BJP headquarters Kamlam in Sector 33. According to BJP activists,a large number of BSP activists are going to join BJP in the coming days,showing their solidarity towards Harmohan Dhawan.
