The UT Police has arrested two people from Rajasthan in connection with using fraudulent means for getting the jobs of nursing officers in GMCH-32. The two accused were identified as Rekhraj, 24, of Jodhpur and Joginder Kumar, 28, of Barmer in Rajasthan. Police said that the two men were arrested on Sunday night. They were remanded in five-day police custody on Monday. Accused Rekhraj and Joginder Kumar had been selected for the jobs and later found using fraudulent means for getting the jobs. A source said, "An organised racket based in Rajasthan believed to be behind the scam. Our investigation revealed that most of the candidates, who had cleared the written test for the posts of 182 nursing officers, were from Rajasthan. When some of the candidates, who had cleared the written exam and got merit, were called for the interview, there were many discrepancies between their signatures and photographs. Rakhraj and Joginder Kumar were two of them. The two have revealed the names of more suspects involved in the scam. They will be arrested shortly." A policeman who is part of the probe team said, "Many of the accused are still at large. Raids are on to nab them. We suspect that the particular gang could also be involved in other recruitment cases too. We have also been scrutinising the record of people who were deputed in 39 examination centres when the written test was conducted on August 28, 2022." The discrepancies came to light when the vigilance wing of the GMCH-32 found huge discrepancies between the signatures, facial expressions etc of many candidates. Sources said at least five candidates, who had sensed that their malpractices would be caught, submitted their resignations. They did not come to join the jobs. The vigilance wing reported the matter to UT health secretary Yashpal Garg. Garg conducted an internal inquiry and found the matter fit for a police investigation. The matter was handed over to the local police, which lodged an FIR on April 20. A case was registered at Sector 34 police station.
