Heavy rainfall was experienced in many parts of the state,with Shimla and Sundernagar witnessing hailstorm on Tuesday. According to Director,Meteorology,Manmohan Singh,the rain and hail was triggered by cyclonic activity over central Pakistan and the adjoining area of Punjab,as a result of which maximum temperatures dropped by 2 to 4 degree Celsius. In Sundernagar,he said,the size of the largest hail stone was reported to be 6 centimetres in circumference and 2 cm in diameter. There is a forecast of fresh western disturbance from June 23,which is likely to result in light precipitation along with hailstorm.
