Punjabi beats and assorted cuisines from all across the country marked the ongoing 14th National Youth Festival here. People visiting Khalsa College for Boys,where the event is being held,also got an opportunity to get a taste of adventure with artificial rock climbing,parasailing and Burma bridge among other sports. Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and the Jashn-e-Bahar Trust organised a mushaira. To add a flavour of national integration to the festival,there were cuisines from 27 states in the food festival to tickle the Amritsari taste buds. We had momos,tikki,chilla,dal bhafla,Kashmiri kahwa and are looking forward to indulge further, said Rubal,a teenager,visiting the fair. Her friend,Anam,she said found preparations from Leh and Chhattisgarh sumptuous. Addressing a gathering,Sports Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike urged the awardees to work hard to make their talent known across the globe. Saranjit Kaur,spokesperson for Nehru Yuva Kendra,said 141 participants from 27 states participated in the food festival. There are 30 stalls from across the country showcasing the culinary delights, she said. Lal Singh,Commandant,Regional Adventure Centre,Kullu,said besides being adventurous,these sports were job-oriented. After training,one can either be an instructor with an academy or start their own business, he added.
