Punjab education min gets snakebite during flood operation
His personal assistant Dapinder Singh said that the incident had happened on the night of August 15.

Punjab education minister Harjot Singh Bains Saturday said that he was bitten by a snake during flood relief operations in his constituency Anandpur Sahib.
“With God’s grace, the flood situation in my constituency, Shri Anandpur Sahib, is better now. During the rescue operations, I was bitten by a venomous snake on the intervening night of 15th Aug, but that didn’t deter my determination to help my people. With God’s grace and people’s love & blessings, I’m alright now. The effect of the venom is receding and my blood tests have come out normal as well,” Bains tweeted.

His personal assistant Dapinder Singh said that the incident had happened on the night of August 15, but Bains realized it hours later after he felt some pain in the foot.
“He was taken to PGIMER Chandigarh for precautionary treatment. Doctors were asking about type of snake but none of us saw it. Probably it was a baby snake which bit when he was standing in flood waters. The pain and swelling subsided later,” he said.
