Exams are over, and now they are just waiting for the results. Whether sipping a cup of tea or having lunch with families, Punjab candidates are unwinding after the end of a hectic election campaigning and polling.

Parampal Kaur Sidhu Maluka, a retired IAS officer and the BJP’s candidate from Bathinda, said, “It seems that exams are over, and the results will come on Tuesday. Today, after weeks, I slept an hour extra and had a nice cup of tea with family members. We did fairly well in this constituency. It was the BJP’s first attempt. Now, it’s over to the voters, and their verdict will tell everything on June 4.”

On Saturday, all 13 seats in Punjab voted in the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024. The results will be out on June 4 as part of the nationwide counting.

Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, the BJP’s candidate in Ferozepur, said,” After days, we are going to have a family lunch on Sunday. All these days, we were busy in the campaign, and all our family members were in different constituencies.”

His son Anumeet Singh Heera Sodhi said, “My mother was stationed at Abohar, my wife was in Muktsar, my brother was in Fazilka…likewise, many other relatives were in different constituencies all these days. So all of us are back in our Ferozepur house and having lunch together.. we worked really hard and are hopeful of winning it in the BJP’s kitty.” Ferozepur was the last seat announced by the BJP about 20 days before the polls.

Sukhpal Singh Khaira, the Congress candidate from Sangrur, was back in his Assembly constituency, Bholath, in Kapurthala district, on Sunday to visit a bereaved family. He said, “It was a triangular contest between me, Shiromani Akali Dal’s (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann and the AAP’s Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer. People will vote the most for me. I have a gut feeling.” Khaira said he needed to attend many other social gatherings in Bholath on Sunday.

Ravneet Singh Bittu, the BJP’s Ludhiana candidate, said he caught up on some sleep to relax. “It was lack of sleep for days together. This campaign went on too long, so I woke up a little late on Sunday. Afterwards, the family had tea together. I spent time with my son after so many days. Now, I will be busy coordinating the counting agents’ duties. I am thankful to the voters, and the verdict will tell the truth.”
