Punjab ADGP Naunihal & IG Paramraj still await their regular postings
Naunihal became available for a fresh regular posting after Inspector General-rank officer Gurpreet Singh Bhullar replaced him as the Amritsar Police Commissioner in November last year.

Naunihal became available for a fresh regular posting after Inspector General-rank officer Gurpreet Singh Bhullar replaced him as the Amritsar Police Commissioner in November last year. Naunihal has been working as a State Level Nodal Officer, Litigation Management System, since December 15 last year.
Soon after the June 4 Lok Sabha results, following a police reshuffle, Bhullar was also replaced as the Amritsar Police Commissioner by Ranjit Singh, a DIG-rank police officer. Bhullar has been awaiting regular posting since he became eligible for posting in the first week of June.
Another officer awaiting regular posting is Inspector General Paramraj Singh Umranangal. More than five years after he was placed on suspension in February 2019 in connection with police firing on anti-sacrilege protesters in Kotkapura in the aftermath of the alleged sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari in Faridkot district in 2015, Umranangal was reinstated by the Punjab government on July 11, making him available for posting.
Naunihal may be awaiting regular posting, but the government has assigned him with other tasks. Apart from working as State Level Nodal Officer, Litigation Management System, he is also the chairman for the recruitment of constables.
In Litigation Management, where he is learnt to have streamlined the process to more than halve the numbers of cops who had to come to Punjab and Haryana High Court in connection with court cases, from around 600 daily to less than 300, ensuring around four companies of Punjab Police remained available in the field at the place of their postings. As the Amritsar Police Commissioner, Naunihal worked to streamline traffic, among other initiatives.
