After the All India Inter-Univesity Badminton title,it was the Panjab University tennis players who brought laurels to the university when they emerged champions in the All India Inter University Tournament held at Hisar from January 21 to 27. PU last won this title 20 years ago and the team had won gold medal at the same venue ten days back when they claimed the North Zone Tennis Championships from January 11 to 17. They defeated Gwalior University 3-0 in the quarter-finals and they repeated the performance by outplaying Pune University 3-0. In the finals,Vijayant Malik came with a superb performance and helped the team win 3-1. Declared best player of the tournament,he defeated Pratik Bhambri 6-2 6-0,while Mandeep Gill lost to Adit Jain 6-3,7-6. In the doubles category,PU campus won without any difficulty. The team comprised of Vijayant Malik,Mandeep Gill (Economics Department,PU),Simarveer Singh (UILS,PU),Gurmohit Singh (DAV College) and Shikhar Gaddh (UILS).
