The deputy medical commissioner of Punjab State Health Systems Corporation will probe the death of a pregnant woman,Babli,at the Abohar civil hospital on Saturday,allegedly for want of blood. Babli,wife of a daily wager,was admitted in the civil hospital because she was anaemic. But with the hospital’s blood bank shut,doctors could not arrange blood for the patient and she died. The hospital has been facing inconvenience following the closure of the blood bank due to non-renewal of licence and patients have to go to Fazilka to collect blood. Civil Surgeon Dr K J S Kakkar said an inquiry would be conducted.
