PPP leader files criminal case against former Punjab Minister

A local court on Saturday registered a criminal case against a former Punjab minister,a police officer and 26 others after admitting a complaint of People’s Party of Punjab General Secretary Yadwinder Singh Butter alleging attack on him and his supporters three years ago.

A local court on Saturday registered a criminal case against a former Punjab minister,a police officer and 26 others after admitting a complaint of People’s Party of Punjab General Secretary Yadwinder Singh Butter alleging attack on him and his supporters three years ago.

Butter in his complaint before a Magistrate had alleged that former Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan and followers attacked him and his supporters at a rally at Kahnuwan on February 23,2008 which he had organised to mobilise party workers for proposed Shiromani Akali Dal meeting at Delhi.

In 2008,Butter was a SAD member. In the complaint through his counsel Rajiv Bhatia,Butter alleged that Sekhwan and supporters aided and abetted by the then Gurdaspur SSP Lok Nath Angra,hatched a conspiracy to kill him.

He further alleged that Sekhwan’s supporters fired shots at the rally to kill him and he had to take shelter a neighbouring building near the rally venue.

The court of Amandeep Kaur Chauhan,Judicial Magistrate,Gurdaspur registered a criminal case under various sections of the IPC and relevant sections of the Arms Act against all accused including Sekhwan and Angra,who is presently a DIG.
