Post-sting op,doctor to be chargesheeted…

“I have sent the file to Health Minister Madan Mohan Mittal,recommending suspension of Dr Sameer Kaushal. Once the file comes back,orders will be issued for his suspension. He is already deemed to be suspended as he was arrested yesterday,” Principal Secretary (Health) Vinni Mahajan told The Indian Express. “Also,he will be issued a chargesheet. No doctor who has a private practice or runs a hospital will be spared if it comes to our notice.’’

Despite repeated attempts,the Health Minister was not available for comment.

While Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar ordered an inquiry by DSP Rajinder Singh Sohal into the matter,Kaushal was remanded in two-day custody by a local court on Friday.

Maintaining that “I have 11 more complaints with me”,Sidhu said,“There are 2 to 3 per cent doctors in the state who have a private practice or run hospitals despite being in government service. They are getting non-practising allowance besides salaries. Either they should resign and do private practice,or do their duty.”

She said senior medical officer Dr Vijay Kumar Sethi had got complaints against Dr Kaushal but he did not act against him because of some personal work with him. Also,Dr Kaushal’s brother works as a clerk in the Punjab Secretariat,who kept sitting on his file. “Dr Kaushal was blackmailing Dr Sethi,who told me this on the phone,’’ she added.

In the sting operation on Thursday,Sidhu went to Amar Hospital in Sector 70,Mohali,as Nafisa,covering her face with a dupatta and complaining of severe stomach pain. Her PA became her brother-in-law. When Dr Kaushal starting examining her,she removed the dupatta and caught him.
