Police Complaint Authority receives 25 complaints in a day

It was raining complaints at the Police Complaint Authority (PCA) during the resumed hearing today. Over 25 complaints poured in today. The maximum number of complaints catered to the crime against women cell while notices were issued to the incharge of the cell in three separate cases.

The Police Complaint Authority headed by Retired Justice NK Aggarwal issued notice to Inspector Jaswinder Kaur Bhullar,incharge,Women Cell,to file a reply. The complainant,Ajay Tiwari,had alleged that the police took no action in the complaint of harassment by the husband of his daughter. He alleged that the complaint was filed in July but even after four months,the police had not taken any action and had failed to register a case.

“The police are hand in glove with the opposite party,we came here for redressal to our complaint,” said Tiwari in his complaint.

Besides,this case,notices were issued to Women Cell Incharge in two other similar cases. The PCA will now hold its hearing next week on Monday as well as Tuesday due to the heavy rush of complaints.

Retired IPS officer Kanwarpreet Singh has been designated as the member of the Police Complaint Authority. The officer replaces AA Siddiqui who had opted out from being a member of the PCA cited current professional engagements for his decision.
