Ever since it has been introduced, the feedback mechanism of Chandigarh Police is gaining popularity as the police has called over 3,000 callers in the past one month to gauge the satisfaction level of the public with the police. As per the recent police report prepared to check the response of the control room, over 70 per cent of callers have expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the police response system. The police have introduced the feedback mechanism in the beginning of October to check the efficiency of the Police Control Room (PCR). The police has a well equipped database which helps it to identify the name and number of every person residents of Punjab. The satisfaction level of the caller is then earmarked into three categories namely- satisfactory, not satisfactory, police action taken, behaviour of the police and remarks. Till date,70 percent of callers have said the response to their calls was satisfactory. The practice has been initiated to study the response of the public in general. After a report is prepared, the weak points will be examined and then efforts will be made to improve them, said DSP PCR Roshan Lal. According to police sources, while a number of callers who receive a call from the police express surprise, there are others who vent their grievances and the difficulties they faced in getting a case register. For instance, out of the 80 persons cross checked on Wednesday,56 were satisfied with police working, four persons were not satisfied with the working of PCR or PS staff and expressed dissatisfaction over the response time.
