With half a dozen councillors and former councillors of the Municipal Corporation named in the complaints about ruckus in the General House, the police seems to be dragging its feet on the issue. The complaints were given by councillors of different parties against each other on Friday.

DSP Ashish Kapoor said that the Municipal Corporation has not provided the police with the video footage of the meeting. “The MC office is not like police stations that are open seven days a week. It is a government office which is closed on Saturday and Sunday. We will get the footage on Monday and then see it,” said the DSP.

Meanwhile, sources say that a report regarding the complaints has been submitted to the DSP.

The ruckus was created after the BJP demanded a discussion on the rail bribery scam in which the nephew of local MP and former Railways Minister was arrested by CBI for accepting bribe. The BJP demanded that Bansal, who is an ex-officio member of the House, not be allowed to attend the meetings till investigation in the scam is done.

As the party raised slogans and threw pamphlets,a ruckus ensued and all councillors entered into a scuffle. The councillors of all the parties received injuries. Complaints were given by BSP councillor Jannat Jahan,Congress councillor Poonam Sharma and BJP councillor Asha Jaiswal. In fact these three also figure in each others’ complaints. Apart from the scuffle, the BJP and BSP councillors have accused the Congress leaders of throwing water bottles at them at the end of the meeting.

Jannat meanwhile said that she would file a case against Sharma for naming her in the complaint when she was not even in the Well of the House when the scuffle was going on.

She said that her name was added only after she had made a complaint against two former councillors H S Lucky and Ravinder Pal Singh.
