PM Awas Yojana: Punjab CM Mann hands over cheques worth Rs 101 crore to 25,000 beneficiaries
Mann said that while his predecessors made rhetoric that the state exchequer was empty, his government was spending every single penny for public welfare.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Wednesday handed over cheques of financial assistance worth Rs 101 crore to 25,000 eligible beneficiaries (Rs 1.75 lakh to each) for construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme.
Addressing the gathering at a state level function held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) here, Mann said the state government was duty bound to ensure the well being of every strata of society. He said it was the duty of the government to provide roti (food), kapda (clothes) and makaan (home) to underprivileged.
Mann said that while his predecessors made rhetoric that the state exchequer was empty, his government was spending every single penny for public welfare. He said that there was no dearth of funds earlier too but the successive governments lacked the vision and will to use these funds for the well being of people. Mann said that the funds at that time used to go in pockets of the corrupt leaders.
Mann said that due to incompetent and corrupt leaders the people have lost faith in the political leadership of the state.
He said that the state government will soon embark a scheme to provide tractors to the village panchayats in the state. He said that in the first phase these tractors will be provided to big villages so that they boost development. Mann said that besides ensuring routine works pertaining to the villages, these tractors will be also helpful for ‘tractorless’ farmers for agriculture purposes.
