Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who attended the meeting virtually from his hospital bed, said landowners can also use the sand for their personal purposes. (PTI)In an act of compassion, a 12-year-old boy from Mohali set an example of humanity and service after he broke open his personal piggy bank and donated his entire savings of Rs 5,000 to support families affected by recent floods.
Damanpreet Singh, a resident of Sector 70, personally handed over the amount to Mohali Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal on Monday. While making the donation, the boy said, “seeing the pain and suffering of flood victims, I felt that even my small contribution could become a source of relief for some families. Service does not depend on age, it comes from the heart”.
Moved by his gesture, Mittal appreciated Damanpreet’s spirit of selflessness and described it as truly inspiring. The district administration also commended him publicly, noting that such sensitivity and concern for others at such a young age reflects a rare maturity.
“At just 12 years of age, Damanpreet has shown the world that the real strength of service lies in intention, not in the amount of money. His decision to dedicate his little savings to flood-affected families is a lesson in humanity,” an official said.
