Panchkula: The Panchkula District Cricket Association,affiliated to Haryana Cricket Association,will conduct trials to select the Panchkula district team in Under-25 age group on July 21 at 3 pm at J.R.Institute of Cricket Technology (Barwala) near Panchkula. According to Sandeep Moudgil,secretary of the association,players born on or after September 1,1988,are eligible to participate in the selection trials. The aspiring cricketers must get themselves registered with the association at venue of selection atleast 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time and deposit fees of Rs.500 with Jaswinder Singh. The selected players will undergo a short preparatory camp before final team is selected. The selected team will then participate in the Haryana State Inter-District cricket championship starting from July 24. Panchkula will take on Ambala at J.R.Institute of Cricket Technology (Barwala) in the opening match. Carrom tourney from July 27 CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Carrom Association will organise the 16th edition of the St Stephen's Carrom Ranking Tournament at St Stephen's School,Sector 45,from July 27. Players will be seen in action in six events over three days. A player should be under the age of 18 years and 14 years as on December 31,2013,for participation in the junior and sub-junior categories respectively. The Chandigarh team for the upcoming National Championship will also be selected during the meet. Golf coaching programme in Aug PANCHKULA: The Panchkula Golf Club will be abuzz with action in the month of August as the Management of Panchkula Golf Club will conduct a Weekend Golf Coaching Programme from August to August 25. This programme will have a total of eight coaching days and will be conducted twice a week,every Saturday (5:00pm-6:00pm) and Sunday (9:00am-10:00am). Ranjeet reaches finals in Madrid CHANDIGARH: Ranjeet Singh,a CHART trainee,has again reached finals of the boys' U-18 age category of a local tournament in Madrid. He defeated his opponent 6-4,4-3. His opponent retired due to fatigue. Meanwhile,Vikrant Dahiya,another CHART trainee,lost to top-seed of the tournament in the semi-finals of boys' U-16 age category. The match lasted three sets and was played over for two hours and 50 minutes. Six CHART trainees are currently in Madrid for a three-week advanced training programme.
