Patiala drub Amritsar in Katoch Shield

Left-arm spinner Rajwinder Singh Golu is having a fantastic time on the cricket field these days. Having bowled superbly against Amritsar in the first innings,during the Punjab Inter-District cricket tournament for Katoch Shield match,Golu came out with flying colours in the second innings too to bag six wickets. Golu (6 for 66) along with Robin Dhillon (3 for 46) engineered Amritsar’s collapse in their second innings. Resuming at 190 for 8,Patiala were bowled out for 217 runs in 90 overs in the first innings in reply to Amritsar’s total of 144 runs. Patiala took a 73-run lead. For Amritsar,Sumit Sharma (6 for 99) and Rahul Kanojia (3 for 56) were the successful bowlers. Playing in the second innings,Amritsar were bowled out for 176 runs in 43.5 overs. Aman Bawa (44) and Sumit Sharma (37 no) shone with the bat for Amritsar.

Chasing a modest total Patiala,scored 106 runs,losing four wickets in 26.1 overs to record a six-wicket win and garnered five points. With this win, Patiala took their points tally in the league stage to 21 points. Jeevanjot Singh (32) and Kunwar Raina (25) were the main contributors for the winning team.

In the second match at the PCA Cricket Stadium,Jalandhar were 157 for 4 in 67 overs while chasing Chandigarh’s modest total of 241 runs. For Jalandhar,Taruwar Kohli (59 no) and Sarabjit Singh (40 no) excelled with the bat. The duo put on 92 runs for the unfinished fifth- wicket stand. Left-arm spinner Gurinder Singh (2 for 60) and medium-pacers Ajay Dalal (1 for 45) and Gurjot Singh (1 for 9) were the main wicket takers for Chandigarh. In the last match played at PAU Ludhiana,hosts in their first innings were 195 runs for 7 in 91 overs against Mohali. Ludhiana innings revolved around,Arjun Puri (55),Nitin Goel (51) Davinder Sidhu (37). For Mohali,Maninder (3 for 24) emerged as the highest wicket taker.
