(Representational Photo)A 25-year-old man lost his life after being swept away in a seasonal rivulet near Raipur Rani in Panchkula, where he had gone to bathe and enjoy with his friends.
The victim, identified as Avinash, a daily-wage labourer, had been missing for two days. His body was recovered on Wednesday near Narainpur, police confirmed.
According to the Raipur Rani police, Avinash had ventured into the swollen stream along with his two friends. The group, unaware of the high water levels triggered by recent heavy rainfall in the hills, entered the water. The powerful current pulled Avinash under, and despite attempts by his friends to rescue him, he could not be saved. They later informed his family about the incident.
A search operation was launched, and after two days, his body was found downstream.
The incident comes barely a month after a 70-year-old man died under similar circumstances in a seasonal rivulet near Gumthala village.
