Panchkula residents plagued by pot-holed roads,stray cattle

Residents of Sector 6 in Panchkula are struggling with several civic issues including the presence of stray animals like dogs and cows,along with dilapidated roads and open electricity junction boxes

Residents of Sector 6 in Panchkula are struggling with several civic issues including the presence of stray animals like dogs and cows,along with dilapidated roads and open electricity junction boxes.

The road leading to DAV Public school is marked with numerous potholes,while stray cattle is a common sight near the General Hospital in Sector 6.

H.S Aneja,a resident of Sector 6 said,“Civic authorities are always trying to find ways to tax the general public but they lag behind when it comes to providing the basic services.”

Jivan Aggarwal,president of sector 6 resident welfare association said,“There is a serious problem of stray cattle in the area. There are so many tea-vendors near General Hospital that attract cattle. The main road connecting the sector is also in a bad state. We have talked to the municipal corporation and are waiting for some relief.”

Meanwhile,O P Sihag,Executive Officer,Panchkula Municipal Corporation said,“We have prepared an estimate. Repair of roads will be started soon.”

“We are also building a cow shelter in association with the Mansa Devi Shrine Board,” he added

The stretch between house number 175 to 184 is another place where the roads are full of potholes.Also,the problem of water-logging due to improper drainage system creates problems.

V K Sood,another resident of Sector 6 said,“The problem is that the responsibility of maintenance of the area is divided between Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and the municipal corporation. Most of the residents are not clear whom to approach”.

Dysfunctional streetlights from house numbers 18 to 33,80 to 99,99 to 113,34 to 45 and 48 to 55 is another problem area for residents.

“It is very dark during late evenings and can lead to accidents,but the authorities seem to be paying no heed to it,” added Sood.
