Panchkula Police issue 2,894 challans, impound 155 vehicles in 6 months for drunk driving

The Panchkula Traffic Police has carried out extensive night checks against drunk driving over the past six months. Using alco-sensors at various checkpoints, the police issued challans to 2,894 motorists for driving under the influence and impounded 155 vehicles during this period.

Panchkula ACP (Traffic) Surender Singh said that driving under the influence of alcohol endangers not only the driver’s life but also the lives of others.

He added that the police’s intention is not to trouble citizens but to keep them safe. Singh urged residents never to drive in an intoxicated state and to immediately inform the police if they notice anyone doing so.

The ACP further stated that the Panchkula police will continue to conduct such night checkpoints in different parts of the district every week to curb drunk driving. He appealed to citizens to cooperate with the police, drive responsibly, and help maintain road safety for all.
