Pak soldier crosses border,arrested

The Border Security Force arrested 18-year-old Pakistan Ranger Ali Abbas when he crossed the international border at Rajo-ke-gatti area on Saturday noon.

The Border Security Force (BSF) arrested 18-year-old Pakistan Ranger Ali Abbas when he crossed the international border at Rajo-ke-gatti area on Saturday noon. Initial inquiries revealed that Abbas,on the first day of his duty, was walking in the fields in plain clothes and since there was no fencing in the area,he crossed the border inadvertently, and came over 1 km inside Indian territory.

DIG (Intelligence) Jagir Singh said,“We are interrogating the person and have not arrived at any conclusion so far.”

Sources revealed that Pak forces have conveyed to the BSF in Ferozepur that the incident was a mere accident as the Ranger was newly recruited and not well-versed with the demarcations. The BSF,however,is investigating the matter.

Rajo-ke-gatti is the last village on the Indo-Pak border from Fazilka side and villagers living in these areas are well aware of the border demarcations. All villagers have been issued I-cards by BSF and the securitymen are familiar with almost all villagers.
