Overloaded vehicle falls into gorge; 3 dead,19 injured

Three persons died and 19 suffered injuries when an overloaded Bolero Camper,in which they were traveling,fell into a 150 meter deep gorge at Simroh village on Dhami-Basantpur road on Tuesday.

The police said the accident took place at around 10.30 am near Baghipul when the driver lost control at a wide curve. “Twenty-two persons were on board the vehicle. Around eight persons,including the driver,were sitting in the front two seat rows,while the others were travelling in the open carrier,” said a police official.

All the persons belonged to the same family and were on their way to the Mahunag temple in Karsog of Mandi district.

Two persons — Tusli Ram and Kanshi Ram of Jeniya village in Dhami — died on the spot. Another person,Rajinder,succumbed to his injures at the Dhami primary health centre. The bodies have been handed over to relatives of the victim after the postmortem. The injured passengers were rushed to the health centre were five of them were stated to be critical. Later they were brought to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital. Some of them were discharged after first aid,said the hospital administration.
