Walking through those corridors after almost seven decades brought several memories back to Harbans Singh.

Walking through those corridors after almost seven decades brought several memories back to Harbans Singh.

One of the oldest living students of PEC University of Technology,91-year-old Harbans was a part of 1943 (civil) batch. He was present as the chief guest at the annual alumni meet of the institute on Saturday.

“The institution has made tremendous strides in holistic development from a total strength of 30 students in total three branches during 1943 to more than 2000 students in nine different branches at present. With time, the institute has changed for good and has been able to create a niche in the country,” he said.

Though expressing some concerns over changing trends among aspiring engineers for preference of jobs, salaries and declining levels of integrity,Harbans advised the young students to work with sincerity, honesty and dedication not only towards themselves but towards the organisation as well.

“During our time, students would only prefer a government job but now with so many multi national private companies offering attractive pay packages, there is a trend among young engineers moving towards these,” he added.

As many as 400 alumni of different batches who had completed golden jubilee,35 years, silver jubilee and 15 years of graduating from the institute were seen cherishing moments of their college days with family members.

Some were also seen enthusiastically showing their classrooms, seats and hostel rooms to their children.
