The Opposition Congress Thursday accused Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar of “cracking lewd jokes on the sentiments and demands” after a video emerged on the social media in which the senior BJP leader is purportedly heard telling a woman, who asked him to set up a factory at her village, that she would be sent on the Chandrayaan-4 mission.
The video, purportedly from Khattar’s Jan Samvad public outreach programme at the Kulana village of Hisar on Thursday, was shared by Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda on X.
“Cracking lewd jokes on the sentiments and demands of the public, especially women, in public events has become a daily routine of Chief Minister Khattar sahab. Mark my words, his arrogance will be broken this time,” Deepender said in a post.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “The BJP CM, in the arrogance of power, is displaying an anti-women mindset shamelessly.”
Meanwhile, stating that the CM was talking about the Chandrayaan on a “lighter note”, Khattar government’s media secretary Praveen Attrey blamed the Opposition “for making viral only a half truth”.
Attery said, “These leaders did not listen to the entire conversation between the Chief Minister and the women. They see only that much information that they want to share in order to score brownie points.”
