One dead,another injured in firing outside court

One person died and another was injured during a clash outside the court complex today morning.

One person died and another was injured during a clash outside the court complex today morning.

The deceased has been identified as Hargunjit Singh,22. The injured,Inderjeet Singh,was admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.

Jagraon SSP,H S Chahal,said the miscreants who opened fire had managed to flee. However,a 0.12 bore gun,which fell from the car during the firing,has been taken into possession by the police.

The police have also booked six people for murder. These include Jaspinder Singh Malhi,Gurpreet Singh alias Lehmeber,Gurteg Singh alias Deepa,Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi,Satinder Singh alias Nikku and Rinku.

Hargunjit and Inderjeet had come to the court today for a case hearing.

In September last year,the two groups had clashed on the issue of election of president of a students’ union.

The police had lodged a case after one Surinderpal Kaur stated that her son Jagbir had been abducted from their house.

Jagbir’s supporters had then opened fire at Jaspinder Singh Malhi,who belonged to the rival group.
