To avoid harassment of patients by attendants, the Haryana government plans to launch a ‘Surgery Package Programme’ in Government Hospital,Sector 6,from July 1. Under the scheme, the charges for various surgeries would be three to five times lesser than market rates.

Along with the surgeries, the patients would be provided free pre-operative check-ups and post-operative care, including medicines, for a week. All medical tests, including ECG,MRI and other laboratory tests, will also be conducted under the scheme.

The surgeons and anaesthetists would be provided with a cash reserve of Rs 10,000 in order to avoid any financial crunch at the time of emergency. “In case, some medicine is unavailable in the hospital,it would be the sole responsibility of the doctor concerned to arrange it; the patients would not be asked to fetch the medicine,” said Government Hospital-6 Medical Superintendent V K Bansal.

The hospital will also stock medical equipment and medicines in advance.
