Notices issued to 104 illegal high-rise buildings in Mohali villages
Notably, this action follows the collapse of a high-rise building in Sohana, which resulted in the death of one person.

The Mohali Municipal Corporation (MC) has issued notices to individuals who have illegally constructed high-rise buildings in villages under its jurisdiction. A previous survey conducted by the corporation identified 104 such buildings that violated regulations by exceeding permissible height limits.
Notably, this action follows the collapse of a high-rise building in Sohana, which resulted in the death of one person.
Rajneesh Kumar Wadhwa, municipal town planner, Mohali Municipal Corporation, stated that these notices have been issued under the PMC Act, 1976, providing building owners with an opportunity to present their case.
Fire brigade also issues notices
Additionally, the fire brigade in Mohali has also issued notices to the owners of these high-rise buildings, instructing them to implement complete fire safety measures. ADFO Jaswinder Singh of the fire department stated that after conducting a survey, they submitted reports on buildings that met fire safety requirements of the MC, while written notices were issued to those that did not comply.
Building owners have been directed to implement the necessary fire safety measures and inform the fire brigade upon completion. Failure to comply will result in a report being submitted to the civic body for further action.
