Much to the surprise of the consumers in the state,no waiver from the hiked tariff is being given in the bills prepared by the Punjab State Power Corporation.

Last year, after much hue and cry,the BJP had got the hiked tariff waived off for the period from April 1,2009 to September 8,2009. The Chief Minister had declared that the consumers can avail the benefits of the roll back from April 1,2010,onwards in six equal instalments.

However, the power bills have given a rude shock to the consumers.

The bills in Abohar are according to the hiked tariff. The charges for up to 100 units are 282 paise instead of 240 paise for domestic consumers and for 200 unit, the charges are 428 paise instead of the promises 391 paise.

Rest of the units have been charged at 452 paise against 413 paise, said Abohar MLA Sunil Jakhar who procured the bills from the power corporation office.

Jakhar said,“When the announcement was made for refunds from April 1 onwards, them why do the bills for May show hiked tariff.”

Meanwhile, the industrial organisations have received the letters from the state government that refund will be made, but no date has been specified.
