After the lifting of the ban by Supreme Court on the Punjabi film,Sadda Haq,the film re-released across theatres on May 10. As cinegoers flocked to watch the controversial film, many were of the view that the movie does not have any such instance that can lead to communal violence in the region. According to them, many such incidents had happened and the filmmaker has just tried to put forth his views.
Just because of one swearword in the movie it has been rated as an adult movie. I did not find any such reason in the movie due to which it had to be banned. The actual situation of that time has been portrayed in the movie, said Satbir Singh.
I think the song by Jazzy-B might be the reason for which the ban was put on the movie because it had names in it. The movie has the story of Jagtar Singh Hawara. The movie had no reason to get banned, says Gagan,a student.
Parwinder Singh adds,The story has shown how the police system worked at that time. After editing the controversial scenes there was no reason of banning the movie as such. The movie cannot cause any communal problem in the region.
No community has been shown in any negative manner. The story depicts many incidents which had actually happened during that period and many more such incidents which have not been covered in the story must have happened during that time, said another viewer,Ramesh Chandel.
