The former district revenue officer, Panchkula, Naresh Sheokand who was arrested by the vigilance department, was remanded in police custody till May 7 on Thursday.
He, along with Bhim Singh, senior manager, Punjab National Bank, New Delhi, were accused in a multi-crore Shamlat land compensation case.
Singh had allegedly involved in carrying out massive misappropriation of central government funds in connivance with Naresh Sheokand, the then district revenue officer, Panchkula.

While, Singh was arrested in October last year, Sheokand was arrested on Tuesday.
“They were the two prime accused in the case. Sheokand was produced in a local court and remanded in police custody till May 7. Singh is lodged in Ambala jai”,” said DSP vigilance Suresh Kumar.
Both the accused were booked under Section 420 (cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust), and various other sections-467, 468, 471, 120 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station, State Vigilance Bureau, Panchkula on July 22.
