MRP means minimum retail price for these shopkeepers

At many tourist places in Haryana,shopkeepers are selling packed eatables at higher price the than the maximum retail price.

At many tourist places in Haryana,shopkeepers are selling packed eatables at higher price the than the maximum retail price. According to Tanvi Udassi,a resident of Pinjore,an ice-cream vendor at Pinjore Garden sold her a cup of vanilla for Rs 15,while the MRP was clearly Rs 10.

When enquired about it,shopkeeper had the standard reply,“take it or leave it”.

The situation is same at almost every eatery,while going from Delhi to Chandigarh.

Balraj Singh,director of the Food and Civil Supply in Haryana,said it was not the responsibility of the department to check whether eatables were being sold at MRP or not.

KS Malik,additional commissioner of the Excise and Taxation Department gave the same excuse. So while the authorities pass the buck,shopkeepers enjoy their day in the sun.
