Mohali court extends Majithia’s judicial custody till October 18

Officials said the Vigilance Bureau has filed a chargesheet running into nearly 40,000 pages and recorded statements of over 200 witnesses in the case.

A Mohali court Saturday extended the judicial custody of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia till October 18 in the ongoing disproportionate assets case. He appeared before the court through video conferencing from Nabha Jail, where he is currently lodged.

Majithia was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau in June 2025 for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. According to the investigation, he is accused of creating shell companies and engaging in benami transactions to accumulate property worth several crores of rupees.

Officials said the Vigilance Bureau has filed a chargesheet running into nearly 40,000 pages and recorded statements of over 200 witnesses in the case.

The court scheduled the next hearing for October 18.
