Missing infant: Couple caught on CCTV camera,but picture too grainy

While the police are yet to make a breakthrough in tracing the missing infant,Nishant. His mother has ‘identified’ the couple who are accused of taking away the 10-month-old boy from Mansa Devi temple on September 28.

Police sources said that Sarita,mother of Nishant,was shown CCTV footage and identified the couple who had allegedly taken away the baby. “But nothing could be made out of the CCTV footage as the face of the woman,identified by Sarita,is not clear,” said a police officer who is part of the investigations.

Panchkula police are also trying to find the person who made a ransom call for Rs 10 lakh,to Ashu (Nishant’s uncle). A police team,in civvies,had accompanied Ashu to Amabala railway station on Monday to find out the person who had made the ransom call.

“No one turned up at the railway station,” said a police officer at the Mansa Devi Complex (MDC),where a case of kidnapping for ransom was registered. Nishant had allegedly went missing from the Mansa Devi temple on September 28 during the Navratra festival.

After the ransom call,police registered the case. Investigations found that the SIM which was used to make the call was procured on a fake address and after two ransom call the cell number was switched off.
