Moving a step ahead, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to get prepared an alternative analysis report (AAR) and a detailed project report (DPR) for the Metro project. Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana had given an in-principle approval to the Metro project for the Tricity.

While speaking to The Indian Express, Chandigarh Home Secretary Nitin Yadav said, “We will be now moving to the next stage of preparing alternative analysis report and DPR.”

On the reports of the ministry giving the go-ahead to the comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) made for Chandigarh which includes a Metro, the Home Secretary clarified, “The Central govt doesn’t approve or disapprove at this stage. The project was sent for their perusal in case they have any observations.”

Once the AAR and DPR is prepared, all the three reports  would be sent to the ministry. The Centre will then take a call on whether the particular project suits the city and its financial viability. If they find the project financially viable, then they would decide funding model, officials said.
