MBBS,BDS courses begin,health univ yet to conduct second counselling

“I had to take the seat in MBBS course under management quota,which is thrice as costly as a government quota seat. If second counselling was conducted in time,I could have got a seat under the government quota,” said a student of Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS),Jalandhar,requesting anonymity.

Another student,from Medical College,Patiala,who got a BDS seat is still hoping to make it to the MBBS stream if the second counselling is conducted.

The parents,too,are a worried lot. “The university authorities are not ready to announce the date for the second counselling. We are hopeful that our children will make it to MBBS through government quota seat,” said a group of parents at PIMS.

Meanwhile,the staff at the admission branch said that the registrar would decide the date. Registrar Dr Darshan Singh was not available for his comments and his office staff passed the buck onto the deputy registrar Satpal Singh’s office. The person attending phone at the deputy registrar’s office said the second counselling would be conducted in September only. However,the person who refused to give his name,didn’t give the date.

It may be noted that the first counselling for more than 2,000 MBBS and BDS was conducted around two months ago.
