True to their reputation,Mayo College Girls’ School,Ajmer, once again came up with a sparkling performance as they defeated hosts Pinegrove School by four wickets in the final to win the All-India IPSC Girls’ Cricket Tournament played at Pinegrove School,Dharampur,Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, the Pinegrove School won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they made a sluggish start and lost wickets in the initial overs. Mayo girls bowled a disciplined line and restricted the flow of runs. It was some superb batting from Shivanti Gupta (46) and Rajnimrit (42) that helped the hosts reach a challenging total of 120 for the loss of five wickets. However,it wasn’t an easy chase for the Mayo girls as expected. The hosts never surrendered and fought till the last over. They lost some early wickets and looked in trouble. The onus then fell on Mannat (23),Preamvada (22) and Rakchika (19) to steer the team to victory off the first ball of the last over. Vaishali of Modern School,Delhi walked away with the player of the tournament award. Col. Arvinder Singh, the Chief Operating Officer of Kings XI Punjab, was the chief guest on the occasion and gave away the prizes.
