Manpreet releases PPP’s agenda for 100 days in power

The People’s Party of Punjab released 20 policy decisions,which it will implement within the first 100 days of its assuming office,if voted to power in the January 30 polls.

The People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) on Friday released 20 policy decisions,which it will implement within the first 100 days of its assuming office,if voted to power in the January 30 polls. Among others,the list included appointing Lokpals at the district levels and bringing state Vigilance Bureau under Lokpal.

“Lokpal in Punjab will have powers to initiate action on complaints against the chief minister,other ministers,bureaucracy and Vigilance Bureau. District levels Lokpals will also be appointed,” said PPP president Manpreet Singh Badal.

Moreover,details of assets of all IAS,IPS and certain other categories of officers will be tabled before the Vidhan Sabha every year. If an officer is found guilty,administrative action will follow. “Also,we will implement the Right to Education Act,NRI Marriage Regulation Act,Child Labour Act,NRI Property Safeguards Act,Whistleblower act,Cable Authority Act and Confiscation of Drug Dealers’ Property Act. The state government will also initiate a debt waiver and loan restructuring dialogue with the Centre,following which,a debt reduction package will be announced,’’ said Manpreet.

He added: “No political interference will be tolerated at any level when it comes to the functioning of the police. Every citizen will have the right to report against police behaviour. The complainant’s identity will be kept a secret and the complaint will be taken up within 24 hours of it being lodged.” The other decisions included:

* Establishment of an employment commission to facilitate job and entrepreneurship ventures

* Major agriculture and agri industry based restructuring policy to be announced

* Education emergency to be declared in the state — in government-run colleges,a student will only have to pay 50 per cent of the charges

* Special relief package for border areas involving the creation of a new social and industrial infrastructure

* Grant of reservation in government jobs and select educational institutions

* A monthly compensation for land that has been destroyed for defense reasons to be fixed

* A special Agriculture Relief Fund to be established to give fiscal assistance to small and marginal farmers having less than 4 acres of land

* Transfers of doctors and teachers to be based on a roster,which will be made public

* Abolition of red beacon light on all vehicles in Punjab,except hospital,ambulance and fire brigade services

* Cut in security personnel deployed for personal security of politicians and officials

* Two-year ban on foreign travel of the MLAs and officials (on government expense).

* All just demands of protesting teachers to be accepted.
