Says has done nothing wrong, wont quit as Gidderbaha MLA A defiant Manpreet Badal, the ousted finance minister, has ruled out any reconciliation with the Shiromani Akali Dal,which suspended him last week for going to the media on the Centres loan waiver offer. A day after being denied entry into the Singh Sabha Gurdwara at Kahnuwan,Manpreet visited Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib here in Patiala on Monday and paid obeisance along with a few hundred supporters. Talking to the media outside the gurdwara,Manpreet put to rest all speculation about any reconciliation offered by senior Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. He said: There are some things which are done in finality. There is no going back on what is past now. Manpreet added that he would, however, soon meet his uncle,Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, separately on the personal front. Stating that there was no question of tendering of any apology on the matter of pursuing the debt waiver issue with the Centre,Manpreet said: An apology for what? I have not done anything wrong. What I was doing was for the states interest and was well within my domain as finance minister. He termed his suspension as unjustified. In the last 15 years,I have not done anything that was against the party or lowered its dignity in any way. I have neither defied any party whip. I am sad that I have been punished for properly doing my job, said Manpreet. On the issue of indiscipline in the party,he said: No party is above the state of Punjab or its interests. I was just trying to help the state and its people get rid of the debt burden. Asked if he was thinking of putting up another alternative before the SAD,he said it was too early for him to formulate such plans. Manpreet said he would not quit his seat as the people of Gidderbaha still wanted him to continue representing them. Claiming an overwhelming response from the public,he said: I will seek the support of every Punjabi and prick their conscience on the debt waiver issue. Ridiculing the small sops doled out by the Punjab government in the form of subsidies,he reiterated his point that small subsidies should be done away with and each Punjabi should live with his head held high, which was possible only when the debt burden was reduced. He also claimed that he had no role in preparing the partys manifesto and he always opposed such subsidies. Earlier,he paid obeisance at Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib where he was given a siropa. He was flanked by MLAs Jagbir Singh Brar and Charanjit Singh Channi. He was welcomed by a few loyalists of the late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra and the late Congress leader Capt Kanwaljit Singh. He later attended a seminar at the Rajiv Gandhi National Law University.
