(Twitter/ @mlkhattar) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Tuesday visited the family of a man from Panipat, who was killed in clashes that broke out in Nuh on July 31 when a religious procession led by the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) was attacked by a mob.
Abhishek Chauhan (22), a resident of Noorwala village of Panipat, was part of the religious procession and was allegedly shot dead.
“I went to Abhishek’s house and expressed my condolences. We all stand with the family in this hour of grief. Abhishek lost his life in Nuh violence. Not a single culprit will be spared,” Khattar said in a post in Hindi on social media platform X.
pic.twitter.com/MJgnCgcv4A

The chief minister was accompanied by Panipat Rural MLA Mahipal Dhanda. “We assured the family of full support in the ongoing investigation in the case,” said Dhanda.
Earlier, based on a complaint by Abhishek’s cousin Mahesh, an FIR was registered against 13 persons by name under IPC sections 302, 148, 149, 307 and 324 and Section 25 of the Arms Act at Sadar Nuh police station.
Mahesh had claimed that after they came out of a temple in Nalhar, a mob charged at them. “A bullet hit Abhishek and he fell. I was trying to get Abhishek somewhere safe, but a man with a sword slashed his neck and fled,” Mahesh had said.
According to Home Minister Anil Vij, more than 510 persons have been arrested and over 130 FIRs registered in connection with the violence that erupted in Nuh before spreading to adjoining districts in which six people were killed.
Police officials, investigating the cases pertaining to Nuh violence, had sent a notice to Congress MLA Mamman Khan. However, Khan, citing medical reasons, had skipped the summons.
Vij, in the recently concluded monsoon session, had said in the Vidhan Sabha that “wherever Mamman Khan visited on August 28, 29 and 30, the violence took place on July 31”.
Addressing a press conference on August 29, Vij had said that “After the interrogation of the accused arrested so far, the conclusion that we are getting is that it looks like this [Nuh violence] has been orchestrated by Congress”.
Khattar too had blamed Congress for the Nuh violence. However, Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda had been demanding a “judicial probe” so that “the truth can be unveiled and everybody gets to know who are the people behind Nuh violence”. The state government, however, refused to adhere to the opposition’s demand and continued with the state police’s probe into the incident.
