Man, his parents booked in dowry death case

Chandigarh Police on Saturday booked a man and his parents in a dowry case, three days after the man’s wife allegedly died by suicide at Kajheri village, Sector 52.

As per details, the woman, identified as Kiran, 20, was found dead at her house on March 15. Kiran, police said, had reportedly hanged herself to death.

Police said that a case of dowry death and harassment was registered against the victim’s husband, Amit, and his parents, following a complaint filed by Kiran’s brother, Pintu, who is a resident of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh.

Pintu in his complaint has reportedly told the police that his sister, Kiran, and Amit got married last year in the month of July. He alleged that days after marriage, his sister was being harassed for dowry.

Police said when the victim reportedly hanged herself, many of her family members were not present in the house. The woman did not left behind a note.

A case was registered at Sector 36 police station later.
