A resident of Nehru Colony was sentenced to imprisonment for five years on charges of attempting to sodomise a five-year-old child,by Additional District and Sessions Judge Ravi Kumar Sondhi on Saturday.
The accused,Ram Darshan,was convicted by the court under Sections 377 read with 511,366,367 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the prosecution,the accused took a child,playing outside his home,inside his shack and tried to sodomise him on April 27,2006.
Hearing the boys screams,his father Mehak Singh forced open the door of the accuseds hut and reportedly saw injury marks on his sons face and neck.
He then approached the police and got an FIR registered against the accused. The medical examination report of the child also favoured the prosecution.
The court ruled that the accused had kidnapped the boy with an intention to commit the act of sodomy.
Pronouncing the orders,the court held,The incident has left a permanent scar on the victims neck and will remind him of the trauma throughout his life. It was a heinous crime and is against the law of nature. It did not expect any leniency.
