Man attempts suicide

A 26-year-old man tried to commit suicide by consuming poisonous substance at residence of his in-laws in Sector 8 today. The accused,Rajiv Parshad,is a resident of Zirakpur and works as a cook with a Panchkula-based restaurant. Rajiv’s wife,Meera,had given birth to a girl child 15 days ago and she was staying at her parent’s house in Sector 8. Rajiv went to her in-laws house in the evening and told his wife that he has consumed poisonous substance. Foam was coming out of his mouth. Meera’s parents informed the police and Rajiv was rushed to the PGI where his condition is said to be critical. The police are yet to ascertain the reasons behind the step taken by Rajiv. Rajiv Parshad has been booked under section 309 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
