Makkar accused of manhandling agents

Gurdeep Singh Gosha,a Panthic Morcha candidate on Sunday accused the sitting SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar and his son of creating ruckus in three polling booths falling in Ludhiana west.

Gurdeep Singh Gosha,a Panthic Morcha candidate on Sunday accused the sitting SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar and his son of creating ruckus in three polling booths falling in Ludhiana west. Gosha,who is contesting against Makkar,alleged that Makkar and his son manhandled his polling agents even as the police personnel stationed at these booths looked the other way.

“Makkar first tied to manhandle our polling agents at Dugri. He even created ruckus at polling booths set up at Satpal Mittal School,Baba Isher Singh School and DAV School. He even tried to snatch the camera of the persons who were authorized by the Gurdwara Election Commission to videograph the polling,” Gosha alleged.

The Panthic candidate said that Makkar’s son,Manwinder Singh,who is a municipal corporation councillor,also created ruckus at the Jyoti Model School located in Salem Tabri.

“We will file a formal complaint with the Gurdwara Election Commission ,” he said.

However,Makkar rubbished the allegations,“This is a bundle of lies. The Panthic Morcha and others are trying to malign me,” Makkar said.
