Madhu scored five goals to single-handedly steer Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19 Coaching Centre to an easy 14-10 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 23 Coaching Centre in the semi-final match in the girls section of the 28th Sub-Junior Chandigarh State Handball Championship being played at DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8 on Wednesday. With this victory, they made it to the final.
The semi-final encounter began on an attacking note as both the teams went out all attacking and made constant attacks into each other’s territory. However, Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19 Coaching Centre dominated the proceedings after some initial hiccups and led 6-2 at half time.
The second half saw Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19 Coaching Centre scoring eight more goals while Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 23 Coaching Centre also managed to score a total of eight goals to reduce the margin.
For Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19 Coaching Centre,Madhu was the star of the day as he netted five goals while Smrity and Kirti scored three goals each. Alisha scored one goal.
In the second semi-final encounter,Coaching Centre,Sector 42 ended the challenge of DAVSSS-8 Coaching Centre with an easy 10-4 win.
At half-time, Coaching Centre,Sector 42 were leading 5-2. For the winning team,Phooljahan and Komal netted three goals each while Anu and Reena scored two goals each. For the losing team,Sonam scored two goals while Deepu and Purnima netted one goal each.
In the boys’ category,DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8 Coaching Centre registered a comefortable 18-10 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19 Coaching Centre to sail into the finals.
At half time,DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8 Coaching Centre were leading 10-6. For the winning team,Mitul was the top scorer as he netted five goals for the team. Ankit scored four goals while Abhishek and Pardeep scored three goals each.
For the losing team,Sarthak scored five goals but his effort went in vain. Vasu and Akash scored two goals each while Sunny scored one goal.
