Lalit steers SWAC into final

A Superb performance from Lalit (18 goals) helped South Western Air Command (SWAC) defeat South Western Air Command in the semi-finals to enter the finals of Air Force Handball Championship being held in Chandigarh on Thursday.

The second semi-final saw both the teams feasting on goals. However,Lalit came into his own for SWAC as his heroics saw SWAC snub WAC’s challenge 35-30. Apart from Lalit,it was Paramjit (8),R Singh (5),Kartik (2) and Benoy (1) who kept the score-board ticking. Vikas emerged as the top scorer for WAC with nine goals while Avin and R K Sharma contributed nine and eight goals,respectively. Kunal scored three goals while Vinay and Namit slammed two goals each.

Meanwhile,in the first semi-final,Eastern Air Command got the better of Air Head Quarters 40-35. With both the teams locked at 31 goals each at the end of stipulated time,the match moved into extra-time. EAC kept their cool and claimed a spot in the final. VP Singh top scored with 11 goals while Vishal contributed 10 goals for his team. Hemant (4),Mallick (3) and Mahesh (2) were the other noteworthy scorers.

For the losing team,Mahesh scored 11 goals while Sandeep (8),HS Singh (6),Pannu (5),Jaipal (3) and R Kumar (2) were the other scorers for the team.
