Khanna: Man dies by suicide at lover’s home, she dumps body in Bhakra canal

A 35-year-old man allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself with ceiling fan at the residence of his lover in Khanna. Later, the woman along with her brother and friends allegedly dumped the body in Bhakra canal.

The Khanna police Wednesday booked four people, including the lover, for abetment to suicide on the complaint of the victim’s wife.

The accused were identified as Ramandeep Kaur Ramna, her brother Pawandeep Singh and his friends Ravi and Kala.

ASI Surajdeen, investigating officer in the case, said that the deceased identified as Baljinder Singh of Raipur Mandla, was married to Kajal. The couple also had two children.

“However, Baljinder was having an extra-marital affair with Ramandeep Kaur who was unmarried. Baljinder used to go to her home frequently. Baljinder’s wife Kajal was aware of the relationship and used to stop him from meeting her,” said ASI.

Police said that prima facie, Ramandeep was planning to go Goa for pursuing a job but Baljinder was against it. He went to her home on May 25 and ended his life by hanging himself with a ceiling fan.

Police said that Ramandeep did not inform police, instead she called her brother and his friends who ferried the body till Bhakra Canal in a car and dumped it there.

An FIR against the four persons has been registered under sections 306, 201 and 34 of IPC at Khanna City-1 police station. Police is yet to recover the body and no arrest has been made yet.
