As Kaul Singh Thakur starts his second innings as the president of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee.

As Kaul Singh Thakur starts his second innings as the president of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee,he has started to send out signals of his efforts to ‘reform’ the party in the state as a more aggressive Opposition.

On Thursday, the Congress president charged the state BJP government with changing the state’s power policy to benefit a select few outsiders and demanded a white paper on the changes made in the original power policy framed by the previous Congress government.

Speaking to the media,Kaul Singh said: “The recent decision of the government to change the rules of power purchase agreement with independent power producers and give them liberty for selling their electricity has been done to benefit a select few under extraneous considerations and due to reasons best known to Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.”

He also alleged large-scale irregularities in the state’s flagship Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Kisan Bagwan Samridhi Yojana funded by NABARD under Central bodies, saying the Congress would institute an inquiry into the matter.
