Kapurthala prisoner died of poisoning

The viscera report of an inmate who died under mysterious circumstances at Kapurthala’s ultra-Modern Jail has stated that cause of his death was poisoning. Organo Phosphorus Pesticides have been shown as the cause of death in the report.

Baldev Singh,alias Debi (30),originally hailing from Ghudduwal Phul village of Lohian area,had died in the jail on November 20,2011,allegedly due to delay in treatment,which led the inmates to create ruckus in the jail.

Jail officials confirmed the Baldev’s death due to posioning and added that the pesticide is often found present in vegetables. It needs to be investigated whether he had consumed this pesticide himself,” a senior official said.
